Okay, so, I started this project, right? I saw this bag, the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. Fancy name, huh? Sounds like something you’d see in a movie, not on someone’s arm. Anyway, I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” I mean, I’ve done some sewing before, nothing too crazy, but I was feeling adventurous.
First off, I had to figure out what this bag was all about. It’s not just any bag. It’s got this “YSL” thing going on, which apparently is a big deal. They say it’s all about the “glamorous appeal” and “high-end materials.” Silk and genuine leather, they say. Sounds expensive, right? Well, that’s probably why they’re so pricey. And they’re not gonna stop making bags with the YSL logo, especially this JUNE BOX one. They say it’s special, “bulbous.” I guess that means it’s kinda round or something.
Then, I started looking at the details. This bag, it’s got a “date code” and a “serial number.” On the small ones, the date code is near the stitch line, behind a pocket. And the serial number? It’s on a little leather tab inside. I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of this bag online, trying to memorize every little detail. Dot d’une bride en chane, whatever that means. And this other stuff, BOX BAG WITH FRONT FLAP FEATURING PIVOTING CASSANDRE CLOSURE AND DIAMOND-QUILTED OVERSTITCHING, like I said, all fancy words.
Gathering Stuff
Next, I had to get the materials. I didn’t go for the real fancy stuff, obviously. I mean, I’m not made of money. But I did try to find some decent fabric and leather that looked kinda like the real deal. Also, I got some thread, needles, and all that sewing stuff. I even found a chain thingy that looked like the one on the bag.
Making the Bag
Now, the hard part. I started cutting and sewing. I won’t lie; it was tough. I messed up a few times, had to rip out stitches, and start over. But, you know, I kept at it. I followed some basic patterns I found, but mostly, I just winged it, trying to make it look like the pictures I saw.
The Result
After a lot of work, a bunch of thread, and yeah, a few pricks from the needles, I finally finished it! My own version of the YSL June Box Bag. It’s not perfect, not exactly like the real one. It’s not an exact replica. The “diamond-quilted overstitching” was super hard. But, hey, I made it myself, and I think it looks pretty good. It’s got that boxy shape, the flap thing, and even the chain. It’s not a YSL, but it’s my little creation, and I’m proud of it.
So, that’s my story of making a YSL June Box Bag. It was a fun project, a bit of a challenge, but totally worth it. Maybe I’ll try making another fancy bag sometime. Who knows?
