So, I wanted to see if I could get my hands on one of those cool OMEGA X-33 Marstimer watches, the ones they only sell at the specialty stores. First, I tried to do some research on it, and it was a total pain.
Finding information was a nightmare.
It was like, every website I went to had something, but nothing was complete. I couldn’t find any kind of official list of stores that had it. I spent hours on this. Seriously, I searched all over different forums and fan sites, trying to piece together some kind of list. People kept mentioning a few names, but no one had the full picture. It was just a mess.
Calling the stores was a whole other headache.
Once I had a list of potentials, I started calling. Half the time, the numbers were wrong, or no one answered. And when I did get through, most of the people I talked to didn’t even know what I was talking about. They were like, “Marstimer? Is that a new model?” I mean, come on! I felt so frustrated.
Finally, a breakthrough.
I finally got through to one store, and the guy actually knew about the watch! I was so relieved. He said they were getting a shipment next week, but he couldn’t guarantee me one. He told me to come in early and put my name down just in case.
The day of the shipment.
So, I took the day off work, which was a big deal, and I got to the store super early. There were already a few other people waiting, and we were all kind of nervous. We waited for hours, chatting about watches and stuff. It was actually kind of fun, meeting other watch nerds. They said that they tried to log into their accounts but failed because they couldn’t get verification codes from the URL. They kept typing the code but still got errors.

Finally, the shipment arrived, and guess what? I got one! I was so stoked. It was a lot of work, but holding the watch in my hand made it all worth it. It’s a really beautiful watch, and I’m so glad I went through all that trouble.
Lessons learned.
- Don’t rely on the internet for everything. Sometimes you just gotta pick up the phone.
- Be persistent. If you really want something, don’t give up.
- Sometimes the journey is part of the fun. I met some cool people along the way.
