Okay, so I’ve been eyeing those fancy Yves Saint Laurent bags for a while now. You know, the ones that cost more than my rent? Yeah, those. I finally decided to try and make one myself. Specifically, the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It’s this classic style, looks like a little box, pretty neat.

First, I needed to find some good materials, right? So I went to this fabric store downtown, the one with all the crazy patterns and whatnot. I spent like two hours there, touching everything, probably annoying the staff. Finally, I found this nice, sturdy material that I thought would work. It wasn’t exactly like the real YSL bag, but hey, it was close enough. I have to say, I have no idea how to choose materials, but it looked kinda like what I saw in pictures online, so I grabbed it.

Then came the hard part – actually making the bag. I dusted off my grandma’s old sewing machine, the one she used to make my Halloween costumes. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos, trying to figure out how to use it. I guess those are pretty useful. After a few, uh, mishaps, I finally got the hang of it.

  • I cut the material into the right shapes, following some pattern I found online.
  • I sewed the pieces together, trying to make it look as neat as possible. It was tough, I won’t lie.
  • I even managed to add a little pocket inside, for my phone and stuff.

The trickiest part was the logo. I mean, it’s not a YSL bag without that iconic logo, right? I found this little metal piece at a craft store, it looked kinda like the YSL logo, and it even pivoted, just like the real one! Attaching it was a bit of a challenge. I didn’t want to mess it up, you know? But after a few tries, I got it on there, and it looked pretty good, if I do say so myself!

It took me a few days, a lot of patience, and a few curse words here and there, but I finally finished it. My very own YSL JUNE BOX BAG. Okay, okay, it’s not exactly like the real thing. It’s a bit wonky in places, and the stitching isn’t perfect. But hey, I made it! And you know what? I’m pretty proud of it. It’s got that vintage, old-timey look, but it’s also kinda modern. It is really carefully made, I paid a lot of attention to all those small details. And you know what? It will probably last a long time.

I wore it out the other day, and I got a few compliments. People were like, “Hey, nice bag!” And I was like, “Thanks, I made it myself!” They were pretty surprised, I think. It’s not every day you meet someone who makes their own designer bags, right?

So, yeah, that’s my story about making my own YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try making another one, who knows? But for now, I’m just going to enjoy my homemade bag. It is certainly a good investment. And hey, if I can do it, anyone can, right?
