So, I’ve been eyeing this Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now, and I finally decided to go for it and remake one for myself. I mean, who doesn’t love a good Prada bag? But the price tags on those things? Ouch. So, I thought, why not try to make my own version?
First, I searched online to get a good look at the bag, what’s that word? Galleria? Okay. I looked at a ton of pictures, trying to figure out how it’s put together. It’s called “Saffiano” leather, which I guess is some kind of special textured leather. It looked pretty complicated, but I wasn’t scared off.
I found a local place that sells leather and bought some pieces that looked kinda like the one in the pictures. It wasn’t exactly the same, but close enough, I thought. They had all sorts of colors, but I decided to stick with classic black – you can’t go wrong with black, right?

Gathering Materials: This was a whole adventure in itself. I went to different shops, comparing leather, feeling it, even smelling it. Finally found some decent stuff that wouldn’t break the bank.
-
Cutting the Leather: I printed out some templates I found online – not specifically for this bag, but I tweaked them a bit. Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking! One wrong move and you’ve messed up the whole piece. But you need to slowly and confidently cut it.

Sewing, Oh Boy: This was the hardest part. I don’t have one of those fancy industrial sewing machines, just my grandma’s old one. It took forever, and my fingers were sore, but I managed to stitch the pieces together. Not perfect, but hey, it started looking like a bag! I sewed, and I sewed, and I sewed.
Next, I needed to figure out the hardware – you know, the buckles, the zipper, and that little Prada logo thingy. I found some similar-looking stuff online and ordered it. It wasn’t the real deal, obviously, but it did the trick.
Putting it all together was like doing a puzzle. I had to punch holes in the leather, attach the hardware, and line the inside with some fabric I found at a discount store.
The Big Reveal
It took me a few weeks, working on it whenever I had some free time, but I finally finished it! It wasn’t an exact replica of the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, but it was pretty darn close, if I do say so myself. And you know what? I was proud of it. I had made a bag! A pretty nice-looking bag, too. Some might say it looks like a real one, but we know the truth! But I know it’s all my sweat and tears in there.
So, yeah, that’s my story of remaking a Prada bag. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but it was definitely cheaper than buying the real thing. Plus, I’ve got a one-of-a-kind bag now, even if it’s not a “real” Prada, but I love my “Prada”.
