Alright, so, let me tell you about this little project I got myself into. I’ve always been into leather goods, you know? That feel, that smell… So the other day, I decided to make a bag. Not just any bag, mind you. I went for the “RemakePRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag Original order” thing.

First, I hit up those online stores, the official ones and some others like FARFETCH. They all have the original one. I’m not buying it of course, too expensive, but I’m looking for inspiration. They got pictures from every angle, descriptions, all that stuff. It’s a nice-looking bag, real classy. They say it’s made of Saffiano leather, which is like, treated and embossed, so it doesn’t change much over time.

I got myself some Saffiano leather. It wasn’t easy to find the right one, believe me. And you can choose, chrome-tanned or vegetable-tanned. Thickness varies too. I went with a thickness that felt right for a small bag. Then, I start tracing. I made a pattern, cutting out the pieces, the front, the back, the sides, the bottom.

  • Tracing and Cutting: This was like, the most nerve-wracking part. One wrong cut and bam, you gotta start over.
  • Sewing: I got this old sewing machine, it’s a beast. Stitching everything together, making sure the seams are straight, strong. It’s a slow process, you gotta be patient.
  • Adding the Hardware: You know, the zippers, the buckles, and that little Prada logo. I found some good quality ones online, they look pretty close to the real deal.

After a few days of working on it, a few mishaps here and there, it’s finally done! It’s not perfect, not exactly like the original Prada Galleria, but it’s my version of it. It’s got that Saffiano texture, the shape is pretty close, and it feels good to hold. I even lined it with some nice fabric I had lying around.

I’ve been using it for a week now, and it’s holding up pretty well. It’s small, but it fits my phone, wallet, keys, you know, the essentials. It’s not the real thing, but it’s mine. And I made it. That’s what counts, right?

So, yeah, that’s my little adventure in bag making. It was fun, challenging, and I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try another one, a bigger one next time. Who knows?
