Okay, so the other day, I got this idea in my head. I’ve always liked the look of those fancy Rolex watches, especially that GMT-Master II with the “Root Beer” bezel. You know, the one with the brown and black? It’s got that classic, kind of vintage vibe.
But here’s the thing: those real Rolexes are crazy expensive! Most folks can’t afford that. But I still wanted to look good, right? So, I thought, why not try to make a watch that looks like it? That’s where this whole project started.
Getting Started
First, I did some digging around to figure out what this “Root Beer” thing even was. Turns out, it’s a nickname for a Rolex GMT-Master or GMT-Master II that has a yellow and brown bezel. There’s this newer model, the 126711CHNR, that a lot of people like. It’s got a black dial with those rose gold markers that glow in the dark. Fancy, huh?
I started by ordering a bunch of parts online. I found this high imitation Rolex GMT-Master II case, and then I started looking for a dial that was close enough. I ended up finding one that had a similar look, with those round hour markers. It wasn’t rose gold, but hey, I’m not made of money!
Putting It Together
Then came the fun part – putting it all together. I’m not going to lie; it was a bit tricky. I had to get some special tools to open up the case and put the movement in. I watched a bunch of videos online, and honestly, I messed up a few times. But I kept at it, and eventually, I got it all figured out.
- Finding the Bezel: This was a tough one. I wanted that brown and black look, but finding a bezel that fit the case and had the right colors was a real pain. I ended up ordering a few different ones before I found one that worked.
- Setting the Hands: This was probably the most frustrating part. Those little hands are so delicate! I bent a couple before I finally got them on straight.
- Testing the Movement: Once I got everything together, I had to make sure the movement was working right. I wound it up, set the time, and crossed my fingers. It ticked!
The Final Product
After a lot of trial and error, I finally got it all together. And you know what? It actually looks pretty good! It’s not a real Rolex, obviously, but it’s got that same kind of look. I’ve been wearing it around, and people have actually asked me if it’s a real one. I just laugh and say, “Nah, it’s my little project.”
It is my little project, it is my baby now, and I love it so much! This is my story about high imitation the Rolex GMT-Master II Root Beer Bezel. Hope you enjoy it!
