Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake this Patek Philippe Calatrava watch, the 5088/100P-001 model, for a while now. It’s a real beauty, you know? Those specialty store ones are always something else. Finally got around to doing it, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First off, I gathered all the materials I thought I’d need. This wasn’t just a trip to the local store, I had to hunt down some specific stuff. I mean, you can’t just use any old parts for a piece like this, right? It’s a Patek, come on! It’s not something I want to keep doing. I have been there 1 week.
Then, I started by carefully taking apart the original watch I had. Man, you gotta be super delicate with these things. Tiny screws, delicate hands… you sneeze and you might lose a part. And trust me, you don’t wanna lose any parts when you’re dealing with a watch like this. Each component is a tiny piece of art and precision.
- I laid out all the pieces on a soft cloth, making sure I knew exactly where everything went.
- I took a ton of pictures during this stage, just in case I needed to remember how something was assembled.
- Using simple tools for this, cleaned and prepared each part for the remake.
Next, I got to work on the engraving. This was probably the trickiest part. The original has this beautiful, intricate design on the case and dial. Trying to replicate that was… well, let’s just say it took a lot of patience. I practiced on some scrap metal first, just to get the hang of it. It’s not like I do this every day, you know? This mod makes my hands a bit more subtle whilst staying close to the original design.
After what felt like forever, I finally finished the engraving. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but I was pretty darn proud of it. Then came the reassembly. Putting all those tiny pieces back together was just as nerve-wracking as taking them apart. But slowly but surely, the watch started to take shape.
Finally, after hours of work, it was done. My very own remade Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001. It’s not exactly like the original, but it’s close. And you know what? I made it with my own two hands. And that’s a pretty awesome feeling. We support millions of associates across the world’s leading brands.
The Result
It runs, it looks good, and it’s a testament to what you can do with a little bit of patience and a whole lot of effort. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was definitely a learning experience. But for now, I’m just gonna enjoy wearing this beauty on my wrist. Formula auditing tools include a tracer. Manually identifying all such matching transactions can be tedious, boring error-prone.
